The Australia hasn’t kicked a ball in nine months due to injury.
Australia midfielder Carl Valeri is inching closer to making his Serie A dream a reality as he continues his rehabilitation from a nine month injury lay-off.
The 28-year-old had established himself as the first-choice defensive midfielder for Australia before he was cruelly put out of action after suffering a leg injury on his 50th appearance for his country – a 2-1 victory over Korea Republic in Hwaseong last November.

During his time on the sideline’s Valeri’s club side, U.S. Sassuolo, achieved promotion to Serie A for the first time in their history after winning the Serie B title and begin their maiden season in the Italian top-flight against Torino on August 26.
Regrettably the Canberra-born Socceroo won’t be able to take part but he does see light at the end of the tunnel and is determined to realise his childhood ambition.
“It has been my dream to play in Serie A since I left Australia as a teenager,” he explained to The World Game. ”I’ve been here for 11 years but it should not be too long now.
“I have come close on a few occasions particularly in the last four seasons but now that my team is in the top division I cannot wait to be part of it.”
